It was then clear to me that even with evidence, most of us are not willing to do what it takes to affect change. We have become a people who express our concern and put up a huge imaginary fight via Facebook status, or rants on twitter, instead of actually taking action against our plights. We as a people must look deep within ourselves, as Haile Selassie said, 'We must become bigger than we have been. More courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations, but to our fellow men within the human community'. A#keem releases new single "Back To Afrika"
"Back to Afrika" was inspired by a realization i had while chatting with some youths in Trinidad about a shooting that happened in the neighborhood where i was living at the time. After hearing the hate and anger in these youths' voices, it shook me, it terrified me to know that this is the emotion in the hearts of our future generation.
And i couldn't help but ask myself why... why is this? After thinking long and hard, and analyzing the community, i concluded, the reason why the youths are like this now, its because we have let go of our culture, our values, and drifted to a more modern world that focuses on a physical world, instead of an emotional, spiritual, and cultural world. We need to get back to our roots, we need to get back to Afrika where love and unity reigned... not Africa with a C as the modern spelling, but the original, AFRIKA."- A#keem
